Abundance
An abundance of food and family is the way to go. Tim, Shona and their little pumpkin arrived late last night and have been having fun ever since. A big bacon and egg breakfast (coffee and bananas for me) was followed by a slow morning getting ready for the hordes to arrive. It is raining but Toby still managed a run through the vines.
We are all missing Phil, Kristin and Charlotte very much but it is great to have most of the cousins, aunts and uncles together with Granny. Susie brought my very favourite egg and caviar dip - I basically had this for lunch. I also managed a bit of the hummus and labneh.
Mum made four of Nigella's porchettas with some spiced red cabbage and bread rolls. For dessert we had lime tart, bruleed by Dad,
...and chocolate pavlova (or pavalova as Bethany calls it). The kids lined up for dessert.
Seeing as it has been almost a year since we were here last (the nine hour drive being something of a deterrent) Henry doesn't remember Jossie but he definitely took a shine to her. Tim took a great photo of her very reluctantly letting him kiss her goodbye.
Now it is 5.30 and all the men are playing pool while we all continue eating and drinking.
Happy house warming Granny, we hope you enjoy many years in your lovely new cottage.
