Welcome Milo

A couple of months ago, after much deliberation, we decided that the time had come for us to get a dog. There are, of course, pros and cons and we carefully weighed up all the issues and came to the conclusion that if we were going to spend a decent amount of time with a dog we needed to have one that could come inside. That means a dog that isn't enormous and that doesn't shed. There aren't many breeds that don't shed and we were most definitely not getting one of those hairless rat-like dogs, apologies to those who like them, so we chose an Australian Labradoodle.

Isn't he sweet? An Australian Labradoodle isn't a Poodle/Labrador cross, though they can be called labradoodles too. It is a breed made up of, amongst other things, Poodles and Labradors, bred for a non-shedding coat and lovely temperament.

We put our names down and were told that there was a four to five month waiting period. Maybe it is the economic situation, maybe they got cold feet but whoever was going to take this little cafe coloured boy changed their minds and we were offered him at the last minute.

Yesterday, all aflutter, we drove to the airport and took delivery of a very excited, woolly parcel. He is so soft and looks like a little brown sheep when he runs. He pounces like a cat and his ears flap about. We are all smitten. Andrew took him to pick up the kids from school today and he met teachers and friends. Then he was introduced to the little kids at Bethany's daycare before being fawned over by council and library staff. He is asleep now, tuckered out after a very social day. These photos were taken on his first night, better ones will follow I'm sure. Now we are a family of six.
