Christ is risen!

Happy Easter to everyone. We are all thrilled to have a few days off. The children, of course, have a couple of weeks off school and I have a whole eleven days off work. I will pop in to the library for kids' books and DVDs so won't get a chance to miss it, or it me.

The weather has finally turned here and the nights have become very cool. It can still be pretty hot during the day but, even before daylight saving finished, it was staying darker for much longer in the morning. It is that frustrating time of year when it is quite cold when you leave home in the morning but can get hot during the day so you can find yourself inappropriately dressed.

It has been ages since I updated, hasn't it? Last Sunday we went for an afternoon walk up the hill behind us with the Scotts. I have never walked up there before, what a fabulous view!

I took the dignified path and stayed on the ground but the men and children climbed the rocks to be the kings and queens of the castle.

Work has been very busy, particularly as I had to prepare to be away for a week and a half, so we haven't done much worth photographing. A quick update : I have been reading Great Expectations (for the first time!) and Coronation Talkies by Susan Kurosawa and am enjoying them both immensely. I have been cooking Meg's chocolate cupcakes (I do hope you don't mind me calling you Meg, it's just that I'm fairly certain we don't pronounce Megan the same way) and these delicious sausage rolls, for the children you understand ;). Tomorrow I will make these Easter treats and a lemon meringue pie for when we have friends over on Monday night. I will endeavour to remember to take photos!

Today we drove to Temora for an air show. I haven't been to one before, though I have seen footage on the news of when accidents happen. Happily, there were no accidents in Temora. First, we spent some time in the kids' corner colouring in and learning how to make the best paper planes I have ever made. I will have to remember how for the annual paper plane throwing competition we have in the work room at the library. I never bother to enter as my paper planes have, thus far, been pathetic.

We checked out the displays in the main hangar. There is a gorgeous, bright yellow little Tiger Moth up the back but I was busy keeping an eye on Toby and didn't take a photo.

We met up with our new friend Ross and his two children and had a lovely day picnicking on the hangar floor, wandering around the museum, playing in the playground and watching the planes. Why are children not as impressed as we are by old and ultra-modern planes zooming past their faces and looping the loop in the sky right above them? This is Jossie and Alexis on their fathers' shoulders, trying hard to be fascinated by the planes.

It was fascinating, really it was. If you click on this photo to enlarge it you'll be able to see the plane! It is terribly hard to take a photo of the planes when they go so very fast. At least the clouds look spectacular.
