Catch up

Oh dear, I do have a lot of catching up to do. So, Andrew, Joss and Tobes came home from their trip to the Easter Show and seeing Annika and on the very same day Bethany and I arrived at the train station to wait for Mama. The train was running half an hour late so we had plenty of time to explore. It is such a pretty, old station and I have great black and white photos of it at work, it has hardly changed. The best part of our adventure at the station was when Mama's face we finally saw Mama in the sea of faces that got off at Wagga.

We adore having Mama to stay for lots of reasons. She puts in a hard day's work for one! Jossie and Toby were well looked after while Andrew and I were at work and Bethany at daycare and then, on Wednesday night, Sare, Ty and Xavie arrived. They, too, are a pleasure to have. We enjoyed lots of vegetarian fare ( dessert is always vegetarian) and plenty of games at which I m very erratic, coming last by a long shot then winning by a big margin.

I don't work on Thursdays so was able to enjoy their company. After Xavie's sleep we went to the Botanic Gardens, starting off with a walk around the rather sad little zoo. There is a farm yard area and Bethany and Xavie were impressed by the tame sheep.

The pigs smelt very bad. If you want good animal photography, this isn't the blog. You need to go here for fabulous, hairy lipped (!) giraffes and other spectacularly photographed stars of the animal kingdom. Wagga zoo just isn't that sort of zoo I'm afraid. It does have some lovely birds and I was quite moved to tears of nostalgia when the cockatoo responded to my "hello Cocky" with a "hello Cocky" of his own. I was instantly taken to Weetaliba, standing at Nanna and Joe-Joe's back door listening to their cocky repeating everything that Nanna said as she yelled for the men in the family to come in for dinner.

Look, Annika's fame has spread to Wagga already!

After the zoo we played in the beautiful gardens. Jossie had packed the mower for Xavie as he is very attached to mowers and diggers - he said good-bye to them over and over when they went home.

There are some beautiful roses there, some with the most gorgeous, heady fragrance.

On Saturday we drove to Junee to visit, for the first time, the Junee Licorice and Chocolate factory. I am astounded that we have never been there before. It was brilliant! The gift shop upstairs was a huge surprise and we all bought something, including Jossie who bought a jewel for her Crocs (?). While we drank our hot chocolates, coffees and juices Bethany took photos with my camera. I was going to upload the whole series in all its unflattering glory but it is too early in the morning for me to be faced with so many extreme close-ups so I'll just show you one. I knew this one would have a finger in it...

Good-bye Sare, Ty and Xavie, we're missing you already. The mower says 'hi'.
