The Museum and Guitar Hero
What a jam-packed weekend! It began with cricket for Andrew and Toby (only four more weeks to go before we reclaim Saturday mornings). Steve, Jane and Archie were down from Sydney for a wedding and came for tea and cake. They also brought down some Tupperware and one of Janice's famous cork boards. After years of friendship I am finally the owner of a Janice cork board!
Toby brought a friend home from cricket and after a reasonable amount of wii playing (it was very hot outside) I took them to the museum. The museum in Wagga has two sites. The Botanic Gardens site is the one with the kidzone with dress-ups and the camel - much beloved by Jossie. Boxworld is on display at the Historic Council Chambers site, right next to the library. It is a smaller site and, at the moment, holds only Boxworld and the old council meeting room.

Jossie and Bethany were fascinated by the scale and detail of the city made of recycled boxes. Toby and Jacob recovered from being impressed much quicker and were keen to move on. Jacob couldn't get over the fact that there were train tracks but no trains and was showing signs of the disappointment that Toby once felt when he first visited the museum and discovered that it didn't have dinosaur bones. So, I gave the boys a task. While they closed their eyes I chose something for each of them to find - a Chinese pavilion or the Cinema Paradiso - and that amused them for a while. We then pretended we were the Mayor and the Town Clerk etc. (not a terribly authentic pose from Jacob) before a quick trip to the library and back home again. Another brilliant thing about country living - ours may not be the British Museum or the Powerhouse, but it is close and free so a quick, half hour visit is so easy.

After church yesterday we went to the Ellis' for lunch to celebrate three birthdays, one of which was Toby's good friend Liam's. They have a brilliant house for entertaining because even when it isn't full of food and people, both of which abounded yesterday, there are so many other things to amuse! Bethany was in her element with the animals.

I don't think I could actually hold a chicken. Bethany could chase and catch this one! It has blue circles on its cheeks.
She and Cameron also had lots of fun with the rabbits.
A house with four boys (and one big boy) is bound to have a lot of toys. I actually have sore arms from trying to play fussball!
I am a lot better at air hockey and I really think we should get one of these.
There was also a lot of musical action. Guitar and violin (I can't cope with too much amateur violin).
The drums were a bit tiresome after a while too.
The men threw the kids off the wii and played Guitar hero with great enthusiasm. Chris did a brilliant job of being Michael Jackson and Jon Bon Jovi!

The cake was good too. It was all so much fun and today we go back to work and school to recover.
It's a bit dry though, isn't it?
