Weekend

Andrew went to Canberra to watch the rugby on Saturday. He left Wagga at 3pm and got back at 1am. I don't understand that sort of commitment to sport but it's nice that the blokes from church like to do the trip together. Male bonding at Canberra Stadium - at least it isn't rugby league, I couldn't cope with that 'for mine'.

I spent a lot of the day in the kitchen, cooking for Sunday lunch. At church we have someone rostered on every week to host a welcome lunch so that if there are any new people we can ask them. You have to be prepared for hordes of people because you just don't know who will be there on the day. There were no new people on Sunday so we had the Taskers and Sonja for a very pleasant afternoon. Of course, I completely forgot to take photos until the very end. There is no record of the porchettas or the potato gratin, no photos of people enjoying coffee and cake. What reminded me about my camera was Caleb, in year 5 at school and one of four boys, playing the Hannah Montana dance game with Jossie on the wii. I'm sure his brothers are still giving him a hard time about it.

The good thing about being a relatively small party in the end is leftovers. This is the chocolate marsala cake.

It's all gone now, of course. I took the rest to work and we are mostly women at the library so it disappeared in no time. This is a little recreation of the mini lemon tarts and rum balls (made with Baileys instead of rum) over tea.

Thankfully there are a some of those left as Mim is coming over tonight. I won't eat them for breakfast then.
