Fame beyond measure
I've been published! I'm sure you'll forgive me for not uploading what is, of course, a fascinating academic article. This experience pales in comparison, however, to the joy I felt when Wagga City Library, my library, was mentioned on Spicks and Specks! For those not in the know, there is a segment on the show where a piece of unrelated text is sung to a familiar tune and the other team members have to guess the song. My brilliant friend Chrissie sent in some books that we deselected (I fought the urge to contact Adam and tell him that we don't commission or decommission books) and they not only used them, but had a conversation about Wagga! Did you watch last week when that man had to sing from Keeper of the Bed, the book about eunuchs? You may remember it because Myf couldn't guess the song as she got lost when he sang 'testicles'. That was our book too! The manager of the library has had many congratulatory emails. Another library manager said that if it had been his library, he'd have customers coming in the next day telling him off for getting rid of that book! Ahhh...libraries.
