Super Saturday

It rained on Friday which may not be a big deal to many but I can't remember the last time it rained all day. It isn't a great time for rain as far as the farmers are concerned, as they are trying to harvest what survives of their crops, but it was a lovely change and very good for our gardens. It also had the most wonderful effect of cancelling cricket! Instead of rushing off on Saturday morning we were able to have a slow start. Andrew took some great photos of Xavier, mine are all rubbish, so hopefully he will share them later. We all ate french toast and bacon (except for Sare and Xavier) and then Bethany and I said good-bye to our visitors and headed out to At the Farm for the first birthday party of the day.

Despite the rain, At the Farm was a great place for a party. The adults sat around on the verandah drinking lattes while the kids blew bubbles, dressed up and ate party food. Bethany is not yet old enough to be dropped off and left at parties so it is great when parents can have a good time too.

The was a break in the rain and the kids went out to feed the animals. Bethany shows very little fear around animals and was very keen to get right in there.

This photo surprises me a little because she looks concerned.

After that party we rushed home so Andrew could go to a work party. We relaxed for a little while before going to Noah's Ark for another birthday party. As Andrew was out, Jossie and Toby had to come too - they were very pleased about that. The kids played and I read. We went home for half an hour and then left, in the rain, for the daycare concert and Christmas party. Every year that I can remember it has been boiling hot and everyone has tried to find shade to sit in. This year it was cold and very wet!

Cold, wet and chaotic is probably the way to describe it. It is very hard to put on a concert with preschoolers and the rain and the hour didn't help. Bethany gave it her all.
