Summer Holidays!

I found it all very amusing, when I was young, that my parents paid for the privilege of me having more holidays than public school children. Now that my own children are at a Christian school that breaks up a week and a half before everyone else, it isn't so funny. On Wednesday afternoon I picked up Jossie and Toby for the last time in eight weeks! It was made even more exciting by the fact that just after we came home Aunty Sare, Uncle Ty and the gorgeous Xavier arrived from Sydney. We always love it when they visit.

Despite the fact that we don't get to see Xavier very much he settled right in and is admirably putting up with all the love being forced upon him. Here he is playing tea parties with Bethany just after they arrived.

Aunty Sare does brilliant french plaits.

I made a gingerbread house for Sare and Ty and they had lots of fun decorating it. Ty's theory is that while there is icing left in the piping bag, more lollies must be added. I think it makes Jossie's effort look elegant and minimalist.

The roof was sagging under the burden and when we tucked in over a game of Rummikub it became structurally unsound. I took a video just after this photo and captured its final moments of collapse. I'll save it in case they ever make a TV show about collapsing gingerbread houses.

We are having so much fun playing real games (as opposed to Scrabble on Facebook) and drinking tea from my favourite tea things. This is Sare gloating over her unethical win. Ty was unimpressed.

Tonight Mim joins us for more fun. I am posting this early in the morning because tomorrow we have cricket, two birthday parties, a farewell party and the daycare end of year concert and party. I think it may deserve a post of it's own.
