Merry Christmas!
I'm sorry for the little holiday I have had from the blog. It has been a case of "Should I keep hanging out with my family, or should I sit, by myself, in front of the computer?". If you have been disappointed, dropping by everyday, then perhaps you should get a bloglines account. It has saved me time and disappointment aplenty with Michelle ;)
So, what have we been up to? We worked, as usual, on Friday, got ready for visitors on Saturday morning, cooking and cleaning. My brother Phil, sister-in-law Kristin and niece Charlotte arrived first, and a few hours later Mum and Dad arrived and the fun began. Lots of eating and drinking and, after the children were in bed, we played Trivial Pursuit. We could have played individually, or as couples, but we decided on boys against girls. Obviously, the girls won, even though the boys got all the easy questions.
Phil, Kristin and Charlotte are having Christmas Day with Kristin's parents in Sydney so we had an early Christmas lunch on Sunday. The two younger generations went to church while Mum and Dad watched the meat in the oven and did the potatoes. We opened presents when we come home - what joy!
There were photos taken at lunch, but not on my camera. We had Nigella's Italian roast pork (porchetta), fattoush, potatoes roasted in goose fat (SO good) and a chocolate cheesecake loaf. Delightful. After lunch the men watched the cricket and minded the kids while the women went shopping, which is the great advantage of having Christmas lunch on a day when the shops are still open! Then, time was spent in the park.
Followed by a swim.
We didn't have a rematch of Trivial Pursuit but played Take 1 with scrabble tiles instead and Andrew won. Phil had a classic round where he didn't make any words at all and got minus 49!! We had such a lovely time.
Phil, Kristin and Charlotte left on Monday morning and Mum and Dad minded the kids while Andrew and I were at work. Yesterday was my last day at work until the 5th of January and I am so pleased to be having a break. Have a very merry Christmas everyone, I'll leave you with a picture of the gorgeous present I received on Sunday.
