Back to it

Sorry, I didn't mean to have such a long break. Exetel's little stunt that removed our blog and lost all my readers rather de-motivated me. Is that a real word? You know what I mean. This is a photo I wanted to put up when our blog disappeared. I took it from inside my office so you are looking through two glass walls at a dust storm. It was so funny seeing every car the same shade of brown. A week later lots of people had washed their cars and I was starting to feel a little conspicuous. The joke was on them, however, as this photo was taken during the second dust storm, exactly a week after the first!

We had such a lovely time at Mum and Dad's. The weather was definitely warm but not, in any way, approaching hot enough for me to consider a swim. The kids, however, went for several swims. Bethany started swimming all by herself in a big pool!

We may not have gone in, but sitting by the pool, watching the kids was quite pleasant for the grown-ups.

I read A Passage to India, which I really enjoyed. I read it while Bethany was in the bath, sitting on the front veranda and sometimes lying on the bed you can just see in the end room.

At the end of the week Tim, Shona and Pumpkin (I'm going to be an aunty again at Easter!) came to stay. It was wonderful to spend time with them and on the Saturday Susie, Nick and Marika came for lunch. I probably should have asked people to pose for the photo, but I didn't, so this is the best one. Next time we are all together it will be Nick and Marika's wedding day!

Speaking of which, thanks to Mum and Dad, I have a beautiful dress to wear and yesterday I bought nail polish to match. I am having trouble finding purple shoes but at least my toenails will look good! It's hard to get a nice photo of your foot.

So, we headed home after our lovely break and I spent pretty much the entire second week of the holidays marking assignments. I haven't become a teacher, I just agreed to do some marking for the lecturer I did a project with last year. I marked 32 assignments and that is why I was not posting on the blog, or watching TV or doing the ironing. Of course, with three children at home I didn't do much marking during the day. We were thrilled that little Ethan was nine days late because that meant that we were home when he was born and could visit him in the hospital. Congratulations Mike and Kara! He is a beautiful baby, I didn't get a brilliant shot.

The kids had a quiet second week. Jossie did lots of dressing up.

On the last day of the holidays all the children in the street had an impromptu party! There was makeup (Bethany loved this), running under the sprinklers, knitting (!), and a feast of popcorn orange quarters and juice.

Now school is back and we are getting used to early mornings again. The roses are coming out and it is delightfully warm. Spring is so beautiful that it is a shame to spend it sneezing and rubbing itchy eyes!
