Disco inferno

So, after work on Saturday I came home, swathed myself in more synthetic material than should be in one place at one time and headed in to town for the disco inferno. The costumes were, as is to be expected I suppose, over the top. I danced for hours, literally, and had such a wonderful time. My dress was like a portable sauna but the music was so good that I couldn't help myself. If I went to a disco party every second night I would be a very fit woman. The next morning I realised that I am no longer a young woman. I was SO sore and stiff. Sadly, my camera took two photos before the battery ran out and my dress and I weren't in either of them. Luckily others brought cameras.

This is Jen, Anne and Michael. Anne was one of many people in a wig. Michael went as Alex Delarge from A Clockwork Orange. Jen wore fabulous eyelashes - I wish I had thought of that, though I'm not sure they'd have lasted the dancing.

This came from Sarah's camera - Michelle, Clare, Jen and Sarah.

This photo came from Anne's camera and while you can't see every glorious inch of my dress you do get the idea of the pattern. Sarah is on my other side and I love this photo of her...she should wear that eye make-up more often.

Especially for Jessica I just popped the dress on and asked Joss to take a picture. It really was a delight to wear, very conducive to dancing for hours. I asked Andrew if I could wear it again. He said not to anything he was going to.

Sarah sent me more photos but I didn't manage to forward them to my home address which is such a shame because my fellow librarians looked fantastic.

Apart from dancing myself sore the other thing I have been doing instead of blogging is watching Life on Mars. It is so brilliant, I'm loving it. The man who plays Gene Hunt (the boss) is the same man who played Major Dobbin in Vanity Fair. The two characters couldn't be more different. Speaking of period pieces, did you watch The Golden Bowl Sunday before last? I would have to say that adultery and betrayal are less pleasant subjects than Jane Austen deals with so I couldn't say that I enjoyed it as much as I did those. It was beautiful, however, and they did resolve the situation well so it was worth watching. It was odd to see Kate Beckinsale, an Englishwoman who I just saw as Emma, play an American married to an Italian played by Jeremy Northam who is Mr Knightley in the other Emma.
