Reflections on a golden trip

Andrew and I went back to work yesterday, back to earth with a thud. It was brilliant timing to come back in time for the long weekend, especially for me as it meant that I worked just one day before having my two regular days off. The question I was asked most yesterday, after "Did you have a good time?", was "What was your favourite place?" Such a hard question and while I said Chatsworth and Derbyshire, I don't feel quite truthful singling out any one place.

The truth is, and I am very thankful for it, that we really enjoyed everywhere we went. I expected to have a few dramas and disappointments. Having organised the whole thing online I really thought that something would go wrong. That a hotel or B&B would not have our booking or be completely unlike what we expected, that we would get terribly lost in the car, that the relatives we were staying with wouldn't like us or that the places we had so longed to see would somehow not meet our expectations. I can't think of one, real disappointment. We had the odd less than spectacular meal but on the whole the trip was better than we had hoped.

So, we are settling back in to life at home. We are still waking up at 1am or 3am and fading pretty early at night. This has been handy for getting up in time but I do hope to sleep right through the night soon. We bought a juicer on the weekend and are enjoying such delights as strawberry, apple and grape juice and frothy orange juice with breakfast.

I have lots of photos to share but, would you believe, now my own computer won't cooperate with blogger!
