A photographer's dream
Amy was having all sorts of trouble uploading photos - and thus getting irate, kicking chairs about, shouting at the poor internet cafe owners and the like (you know how she gets ;) - so I've resumed control again enough to post a few photos on Flickr while she heads back to the hotel to cool off... you can access them at http://www.flickr.com/photos/takentopieces or by clicking the photo above.
I have to admit that I've been torn as to whether or not to lug around my camera during this trip as you could just snap, snap, snap away and not actually do any decent 'experiencing'. Thankfully, I found the happy medium and have loved doing both. Taking photos in Paris especially has provided me with much enjoyment as nearly every scene you encounter has character enough to warrant being preserved digitally. Amy has unfortunately had to endure the "oh...wait,wait,wait" that I suspect poor Shona has experienced, as the potential photo de triumphe has been caught in her husbands peripheral vision. Whether the photo ends up in that realm or not doesn't really matter to me - it's the fun in capturing the best of what you experienced in reality, enough to let you relive and re-live it for years to come.
When I took the photo above, I quietly said "Smile"... and to my eye, it did.
