A busy week
We really have been very busy over the last few weeks. I've been working extra days during the week and having meetings and other, more fun things in the evenings. I was unimpressed with there being no Jane Austen on the ABC last night and had to watch The trials of Darryl Hunt on DVD while I sorted the washing and did the ironing (that is not one of the fun evenings I was referring to).
What did you think of Mansfield Park last week? I think it is one of the hardest Austen novels to make a film of because Fanny is not a modern heroine - she is frail, timid and a bit priggish. They changed her character, of course, for the two versions I have seen and you know how I dislike fiddling with the original! Billie Piper is such a strange choice for Fanny - she is so....robust and her mouth is so...big. Still, I enjoyed it more than the other version I own on DVD.
So, we're up to York. We got up in the morning expecting to go into York Minster but they were filming Robinson Crusoe (not the island part!) so we took photos of the outside of the spectacular church.

We also saw the set they created in The Shambles which looks a lot like this normally, just not so dirty.

We left York, a bit sad to spend so little time there but very excited about getting to Scotland. We drove straight to Callander and The Westerton which, and I must bore you with this again, was the most wonderful B&B and I recommend you fly a very long way to go and stay there.

We met a couple there, while sitting on the terrace in the sun drinking tea, who go there for a week every year. I would really love to be able to do that.
