I love Scotland!
Did you miss me yesterday?;)
We went to visit York Minster yesterday morning but it was closed for the filming of Robinson Crusoe with Sean Bean. I was disappointed, especially when I didn't even get to see Sean but York was so beautiful and the weather was lovely so I didn't mind too much. We just wandered the streets within the wall.
It took us around 5 hours to drive to Callander. I wanted to text Tim and Shona from the border but Andrew's phone doesn't have their number in it. It was also probably a bit late. Tim, you didn't exaggerate, we absolutely LOVE the Westerton - everyone must come here. The green room is sumptuous, bigger than the gold room, and when we arrived Lesley made us tea which we had in the breakfast room overlooking the garden which slopes down to the river and is in full bloom. Our tea was served in a tall, silver tea pot and we had shortbread with strawberries.
We climbed Ben A'an this morning. I am terribly unfit but the view at the top was more than worth it. The colours are so vibrant and the air so very clean. In the wood on the way up all the stones and fallen branches are covered in mosses of different greens and the plants are of the brightest apple green with purple and white flowers. I really wish I could show you some photos but public Internet computers, quite rightly I suppose, don't seem to allow uploading.
Then we went to Doune Castle which was really great because it isn't full of reproduction bits and pieces and the Monty Python connection is pretty cool.
Tonight we go to the Italian restaurant for dinner and tomorrow we head to Edinburgh. Congratulations to Paul and Sara on the birth of Jack, we can't wait to meet him in a few days. So much to look forward to!
