The long weekend
Long weekends are great! I have really enjoyed the extra day which started with a fabulous sleep in. I had to wake Bethany up at 9! As wonderful as that was I am going to find it a little frustrating when we all have to get up early for school. Joss has gone to Eden's for a sleep over and Toby and Andrew are at the park. I took Toby to the shops while Bethany was resting, just for the weekly shop, and he chatted non-stop. I can't actually remember what we did on Saturday so I'll start the recap from Sunday.
Bethany's hair had been in plaits so we went for the crimped look for church. She was very taken with it.

Having decided to give her usual handful of bikkies after church a miss, she enjoyed a nectarine while we waited for everyone else to arrive for lunch. She is sitting inside because I had just caught a monstrous mozzie on her.

Mim and Bill came for lunch after church and we had turkish melts followed by mangoes and strawberries (another joy of summer that I really will miss). As soon as they arrived Joss and Tobes made them miis for the wii, so we had to use them after lunch. Firstly the four adults bowled. I don't know what happened because I have never come anything but last before, but I won.... by a lot. Then Mim and Bill boxed. It was very close but in the end Mim knocked Bill out. From the photo below it could be suggested that Mim was hitting below the belt, but I think men always say that when they are beaten by a woman.

Then Jossie and Toby played tennis with Bill. Toby, as you can see if you look closely, takes it all very seriously. I like to call this a Leighton moment.
As you know I have been cooking lots of things out of my new Nigella book, Nigella Express, while not neglecting the other four I own. This is red prawn and mango curry which is not the sort of thing I usually make. Two others had told me that they had made it however, so I gave it a go. It was pretty good, red curry is very nice. I think I just like prawns best when they are deep fried (mmmm tempura!), but then I suppose you can say that about almost anything!
