Coming to an end
Even though I only had three days of leave from work over these holidays, it has been a break for me and I shall be a bit sorry when it is all over next Thursday. I like not having to make school lunches and pack school bags. I like not struggling to remember who has sport, news or needs their library bag. I also like not having to do the school run on Wednesday and Thursday because it takes an hour out of my day. I have also very much enjoyed sleeping in on those days. It will all be a bit of a shock really. Jossie and Toby are unreservedly looking forward to it. Jossie is thrilled because she has a pretty teacher and Toby is excited because he has the teacher Jossie had last year and she has chocolate!
Bethany and I made vanilla shortbread on Wednesday. It is, of course, a Nigella recipe and incredibly easy and delicious.

Jossie, Toby and Bethany have lots of fun playing with the children in our street.

Here is the ant circus, isn't it great? It is all red in this photo because apparently ants can't see in red light and they like working in the dark. It came with a sheet of red cellophane that you put under the roof to make it ant night.
Here it is with the cellophane off. I'll admit that I thought I might wake up this morning and find all the ants dead. They do seem to find the plastic very slippery so they can't yet climb up the ramp to go over the tight rope but they are all very busy so I assume they are working on it.
I'm looking forward to the long weekend before the plunge back into term time!
