Christmas 2006

Christmas 2006

The whole lead up to Christmas was, as usual, reasonbaly hectic. While I finished off a CD for the Christian College called 'Noah - a drought breaking story' (music I'd written for their junior school musical), Amy finished off her degree in her usual impressive style. The graduation is in April. The week before Christmas, Amy's dad visited from Queensland along with her bro Tim, we finished all the shopping, attended various Christmas parties and tried to not go mad. We then left for Sydney for a weeks holiday which included time at both Amy and my parents, and visits to various friends and family. All went well, except perhaps for the prawn incident, which I will now disclose for posterity only. One pleasant evening during our time at the vineyard, we dined on fine oysters and prawns - and it was during the shelling of one of these prawns by my wife, that some sort of liquid squirted up and into my eye. I washed it of course, but by the following morning I had this big bag of fluid below my red and swollen left eye. I'm ok though - really I am... New Years Eve saw us back home - I went to a party for a while, Amy and I stayed up until midnight just for the fireworks, and then we crashed.

January begins and we're both back at work, striving to improve the lives of our fellow citizens in our own small ways (can you tell that it's starting to get late as I write this?) and the kids have been lucky enough to have my parents as babysitters for the last week. It's very hot here at the moment, yesterday over 40 degrees, so we've been over to our friends pool nearly everyday for the last week. The unexpected bonus is that Toby can now swim by himself, which we are delighted about.

The photo above was taken just at the moment that Joss' new toy did something impressive - so it was nice to catch the actual moment of excitement in this photo. There are a number more on Flickr if you want to have a look - just click on the photo above.
