Turmoil and Tamagochi's
What a whirlwind the last few weeks have been. I don't know that we could continue at this pace much longer, so it's a good thing that I'm taking leave for the first three weeks of January. While Amy's had her head in the books, I've been charting music for a kids project, and that's been on top of work (Amy's started working in the library at the Christian College too). As well as that, there are all the kids activities to sort out - piano lessons, parties, swimming, etc etc... And organising Beth to be looked after. Then there are the various meetings, church activities, school functions...
All of that and I could have just typed - 'sorry for being a slackbum and now posting in a while'....
Joss progressed up two more reading levels - It amazes me that within 1 year she can be reading so well. The usual reward for moving up a level is a small book of some sort (apt), but I decided this time to cave to the persistent request for a tamagochi (gen2). Although she's not allowed it at school, a lot of friends at church have them, and they sit around with them all linked by infared, and play games, etc etc etc... The excitement it has generated is off the scale, but I think it's great. These sort of fads are great to remember - so even if it's in the back of the cupboard within 6 months, I reckon it'll probably have been worth it..
Finally - I can't finish without a quick story. Last night I was saying goodnight to Joss, who was listening to a Steven Curtis Chapman CD (her favorite at the moment). She loves the first song, which has the words "the rivers deep, the rivers wide, the rivers water is alive, so sink or swim I'm diving in". This is a Christian artist who's point (I surmised) was that being a Christian isn't always easy but worth giving it everything. So I explained this to Joss who's reply was "yeah, and it's also about swimming in a river".
