About time!

Yes, it has been a long time between posts, sorry about that. So, what have we been up to? Well, the building is all finished. Joss and Toby miss Simon and his father Peter, whom they refer to as Mr Barritt and Daddy Barritt. Andrew misses them too as he was really enjoying having access to a drop saw and nail gun. We have nearly finished the undercoat, and this morning we ordered the carpet, so the room will very soon be ready to move into. Andrew has used the shower, very nice apparently, and Joss uses the toilet often - I just wish Toby would too! You are all invited to stay, it will be fun, really, worth the trip.

Self explanatory really...

Finally... here's a picture of the new floor Andrew put down.

I have enrolled for next year and am sorting out applications for local library work. Bethany has been trying out different finger combinations for sucking - currently favouring the pointer and index fingers up-side-down. She loves the sound of her own voice, especially when squealing, and also likes gargling saliva. She had her first Farex the other day and seems to think it tastes OK.

Toby has developed a fear of insects after Joss was bitten by an ant. He wakes up crying about ants. He has been sleeping on the floor, right at the door, making it very difficult for us to get in the room to put him into bed, but we seem to have sorted that one out in the last few days. Everyone is noticing that he is growing up, even Toby himself. He wants to grow as tall as Daddy so he can catch the moon. At the same time he is a bit scared of heights because when Andrew lifted him up towards the moon he freaked out and wouldn't let Andrew pick him up for a few days. Imagine thinking that your Dad could actually take you up to the moon! He loves wearing his 'Celcit' jersey but we can't work out why he says Celcit. He'll say 'tic' lots of times in a row, then 'Celcit'. He can also make a f sound, but he only seems to do it when he means th - as in Nafan from Hi-5 - and when he means f he says s - as in srogs jump. He also likes to run around trying to catch the dust particles you see in rays of sunlight, only he calls it 'catching flies'.

Jossie misses her new friend Ryan and wants to visit him in Ireland. She won't call him Ryan, always 'my new friend'. She is excited about her new cousin Brooke, as are we all, and can't wait to meet her and Charlotte at Christmas. We're going to miss Tim at Christmas - we were in the car the other day and the Supertones came on the radio reminding me of Tim so I said "I love Uncle Tim' and Jossie said 'ME TOO!'. She is enjoying ballet, which I am very glad about because we just bought the costume for her end-of-year concert and it cost $80! She does look fabulous in it, and I'm sure Bethany will get some wear out of it down the track. Soon we will be buying Jossie's school uniform! She has readiness assessment this week and orientation soon after - I feel really grown up now that I will have a child at school!

That brings you all up to date with the minutiae of our lives, perhaps not the most interesting read, but isn't it great to know what people have been doing? I'm very thankful to Tim for introducing us all to blogging because while we are all so far away from each other we have a real sense being in touch. I have never been to Scotland, have not yet been to Phil and Kristin's place and haven't been to Tahlee in nearly a year, but I can know the big and little things that happen in these places, and see pictures to really know what they look like. How cool is that?
