Fathers Day 2004
What a great day. Slept in, kids came in with gifts, went to church, talked to friends, home, lunch, golf, won golf (it's just for the record Carl if your reading), came home, dinner, tv, and now about to go to bed. Fathers day was as good as it could have been. It's just that I don't really care... I'm not a big Fathers day fan, neither was my dad. I've thought about it quite a lot in the last week as promotions have geared up, and have concluded where I have the last couple of years. Dad tells me that Mothers day came into being first, and he liked the idea - but when Fathers day emerged (after the commercial success of Mothers day) he got a bit suspicious. It's a good point. I'm delighted that I am a father, and don't wish to be acknowledged for it. I know that my kids love and appreciate me - no power tool is required to make that a reality. I also chose to be a Father - and I'm rewarded daily for that. So that's my view - and whether or not other Fathers agree I don't really care. I believe that many wonderful things have been done and said on Fathers days - so my view ain't gonna agree with everyone... and that's more than ok.
Having said that - I hope that the following recognitions aren't just dismissed as pleasantries! Happy Fathers day Dad. Also, Mal, Rob, Phil, Roger, Will, Paul, Chris, Carl and Dave (you all know who you are). Hoping you all keep enjoying your role!
