Brushes with fame...

My brother Mal tells me he thinks he should probably get a real job. I'm not too sure why. Granted, being a professional puppeteer isn't the most common career path, and possibly a bit tricky for the kids to explain to their mates / teachers etc - but I'd think there's gotta be a bit more fun involved than your average job. What's more, he's travelled the world, been on TV, made CD's, videos, DVD's - met celebrity, been celebrity (or at least been the voice and life of celebrity).... maybe it's something to do with tax...

I'm glad he hasn't strayed though. For a guy who is very laid back and quiet, he's brought alive a whole host of hilarious characters - from Modigliana and Keith (the Ferals), to Joe the Kangaroo on the ABC, to some skunk I saw on TV one day (I recognised the voice so waited for the credits to confirm), to our beloved Waffle (go visit Logosdor - be impressed, be inspired). He also does script writing and probably loads of other stuff I never hear about... Having brought the gospel to thousands of kids around the world (not with Modi I should point out ;) I reckon his work is invaluable and there should rightly be some sort of riot if he decides to become, say, an accountant (with my sincere apologies to all hard working accountants).

Amy & I were lucky enough to see a shoot at the ABC one day, but at Christmas, Joss and Toby got to meet Modi in (cat)person. Mal sent me these photos the other day (thanks bro!).
