Wriggly Pippin and creme brulee
I dislike calling unborn babies 'it'. Our baby has a gender, we just don't know what it is. With Jossie and Toby we sometimes called them 'he' and sometimes 'she'. This time, I am calling our baby Pippin. I love that name, as I love the character from Lord of the Rings, but Andrew would never allow me to put Pippin on the birth certificate, so I am calling him Pippin while I have the chance. Of course, that means assuming that he is a boy. I think he actually might be a boy because we have lovely girls names picked out but cannot come close to agreeing on a boy's name. I also had reason to call him a "fool of a Took" (go and read Fellowship of the Ring if you don't know what I am talking about) yesterday because he would not stay still during my ultrasound. The poor lady doing it had such trouble getting a good look at anything because he kept rolling and wriggling - it took an hour! She had to come back to the feet three times, and when she finally found one of his hands, he clenched his fist and wouldn't let her see the fingers. I was expecting him to just stick up his middle finger to show us he was doing it all on purpose.
We went out to our favourite restaurant, Three Chefs, last night. If I was reading this, I would really like to know what we ate, so I will tell you. We shared an entree (I wish I knew how to put accents over the letter e as this post is full of French words) of salt and pepper baby octopus - delicious. Then Andrew had the beef and I had grilled barramundi on wild mushroom and sweet potato risotto with rocket and red onion jam. Then Sara, one of the three chefs and my good friend, came and sat with us while we ate our dessert of creme brulee with blood orange jelly and a maple wafer, and white chocolate spring rolls. It was a lovely evening.
The last thing I want to share is a photo of Joss and Toby as the crime fighting duo 'Superhero girl and trusty sidekick, Elephant Boy ( no relation to the Elephant Man, he just carries an elephant around with him)'. Jossie came out of her room having chosen the outfit and the name herself. We are glad she didn't call herself 'Killing Girl' as she was in the habit of calling stern looking action hero types, 'killing people'. We think she gets this from boys at preschool who run around pretending to kill each other. She is only going to pick up more and more things we are not happy with as she goes to school next year. We'll look forward to that...
