The Gene Pool...

I get the comment almost daily that Toby looks like me..... and most people seem to be genuinely astonished. Even today, someone at work said "he's a cute kid, he looks just like you, quite amazing..." I was flattered of course, not having been called cute for some time, but I can't really understand where the confusion comes from... I am his Dad, surely there was at least a 50% chance of similarity!

To be serious, I do know better having studied genetics; it's a fascinating field in its complexity, precision and pathology, and with all that has been discovered from the completion of the human genome to the understanding of how some mutations occur and their effects - the surface of genetics has only really been dented. I have a friend who is devoting quite a large portion of his life to a couple of genes within a particular virus.... Good for him...

I decided therefore to conduct a slightly low scale experiment to see what my Dad, myself and Toby all looked like at a similar age. Not the best photos to base this experiment on, but they'll do....
