A busy week

Looking back, it’s been a busy week. Amy threw a birthday lunch for our mate Sara yesterday – I was working from home for part of it - sounded like they were having fun. Drew (uni student / church) who knows his IT, came around for dinner – he’s helping me design a website for church. Toby had 1 day at daycare, Joss had 2. Toby had a birthday, I had an 11pm, then 3am call-out for work, Amy saw ‘Love Actually’ with a friend (she might review it) – work has been ‘nuts’ type busy, Amy has cleaned, cooked, washed, run around, played with the kids, organized all of us - and that only seems to be scratching the surface.

Now it is 9pm on Friday night, and I’m finally chilling out at work (quite literally – the aircon needs to be adjusted), so I have an hour or so to read up on the latest technique for whatever, fix a dodgy fax machine, network a new printer or post something here….

Mind you - I don’t think we are alone in being busy – most people nearly all the time seem to be busy doing something or other. In fact, I can’t remember many times where the response to “how’s it going?” is “yeah, really quiet and un-busy thanks”. I often get passed in the hospital corridors with the line “G’day - busy?” – and what’s a bit stupid is that I sometimes say yes even if I’m not… I wonder if people perceive being busy with being a good worker or a success. I’m not entirely convinced that being busy is a good thing…

Then of course there is laziness….

This weekend we have quite a bit to do – we might pace ourselves I think.
