That was Christmas...
Travelling nine hours on a hot and glarey day ain't easy. Combine that with two kids under five, one who decides that his breakfast would make him feel better if he decorated the car floor with it, makes for a long day. Our Christmas holiday has passed for 2003 and thankfully, that's where the annoyance ended. Christmas day with Amy's family in Broke (Hunter Valley), boxing day with Andrew's family (and more than worthy extras), and a couple of day's at Andrew's parents place to wind down a bit made up the rest. And it was great.
One of our greatest joys is watching our families interact with our children. The quiet word in the ear, the secret between grandparent and child, the special hug, the obligatory stealing of the thumb.... this is the stuff that warms us... There was enough of that to last until the next visit...
Christmas is about family, about relationships and the excitement of giving and receiving. It is more importantly about the birth of Jesus. We celebrated that with our kids, and each other.
